feeling like fall!!!

i'm all bundled up getting ready to go for a walk around our neighborhood...

mommy and daddy thought i looked so cute we had to have a mini photo shoot...

"fall" is taking on another meaning...

our boy has been loving pulling himself up on everything! but he hasn't figured out that he should have a good grip before he tries to pull up...for example he tried to pull himself up on a wall! so we've been getting lots more "bonk-bonks" as we like to call them.

our first major bonk-bonk happened yesterday when he fell forward onto one of his favorite toy cars. mommy picked me up right away and then she noticed that she had a little blood on her shoulder! we definitely got so scared and he got his first bloody and fat lip...poor boy :( but he enjoyed sucking on a piece of ice and getting snuggled.

we love our sweet boy and know that he's going to get hurt and we can't prevent them all. :( we are definitely "feeling like fall" in 2 different meanings of the word.

daddy day!

mommy had to leave carter for the longest time she ever has with daddy today...

i got to go to my friend emily's baby shower! she is having her second boy :) so i had to leave carter with daddy today. very nervous because he has not been doing well without mommy!!! despite all the nerves i left him in good hands...

tom was amazing! he was so excited and had the day all planned out...stroller walks to the park, lunch at home, playtime....and SWIMMING! he has never taken carter anywhere alone yet, and i didn't know if tom would even know all that you need to bring (bottle, diapers, wipes, extra change of clothes) but the only thing that i told tom was what to give him for lunch. then as i was leaving the shower i called him and heard he went swimming! my reaction was...did he wear a swimsuit??? did you remember a swim diaper??? did you remember sunscreen??? the answer to all this was YES! come home to see my sweet hubby had even brought my diaper bag out stocked with all he needs. GOOD DADDY!!!

carter had an amazing time and now i know that i have no reason to be nervous! i am so proud of tom :) much needed daddy time!

church nursery

we checked the box: it is not ok for our baby to cry...page us when he starts crying.

the reason for this is because our baby boy will not calm down without his mommy or daddy if he gets really upset. by the time we get to sweet carter his face is all red and blotchy and has tears streaming down his face. so then we go to the family room at church...

after carter has calmed down, he's his normal busy, active self. it makes it a little difficult even in the family room because we still have to keep him somewhat in the same place, not crawling all over. but once he gets back with tom and i he is a happy boy.

today after church we went to rubios and let carter look at the fishies. (we also got a yummy meal :) it was the first time that he's seen an aquarium and he loved watching them. he was very curious about them. i think it's time we visit the scripps or legoland aquarium. grampa wants to take carter on a special day there...we can't wait!

that has been our sunday so far...now carter is napping after a little bit of a rough day. which means he will probably nap for a while especially because he barely napped this morning. now relaxation time!

beautiful day in del mar

it was a beautiful day in del mar! jess and i took our boys to the park and had a picnic. we had to have a little photo shoot because it could not have been a more gorgeous day! (it has been so foggy on the coast ALL summer!)

we put them in the swing together so they were more secure. it was so cute and they both loved swinging!

first post!

ahhh nervous about the first post!!! well our sweet boy is asleep and i am taking advantage of his (becoming more rare) nap-time! our boy is a crazy army crawler right now! this morning i was having to follow him all around the house because he is curious about all the no-no's...including the fridge, oven, fireplace, wanting to get under dressers and into our media cabinet! The job of baby-proofing has begun! it's busy, but so fun watching him learn and grow.

carter is loving going on stroller walks around our neighborhood! every late afternoon when tom gets home, we walk to our neighborhood park and tom and i play basketball...either "horse" or a shootout competition. Carter loves to watch from his stroller and thinks we're funny when we try to throw the basketball. mommy is a lot funnier trying to play :)

today's agenda is lunch at home, grocery shopping, then we're excited for daddy to get home! Carter loves grocery shopping...stater bros by us gives out free balloons to kids and carter cannot get enough of watching them! he likes to help me pick out food.
